Haere mai, Welcome! We are Kate & Rowan, you may be wondering how or why we started sharing our life.

It all began when life just kicked us a bit too hard and we realised life is way too short to be this miserable. Rowan came up with the idea of living a simpler, uncomplicated life, inspired by the hikes he loved as a kid. That spark grew into a plan to travel the length of Aotearoa under our own steam.

So we sold our house and swapped it for a small tent. We took our time, travelled at our own pace, and spent over a year living in that tiny tent. Along the way we experienced some incredible nature and crossed paths with some truly incredible people.

When we finished our journey, it didn’t make sense to leave the money from selling the house sitting in the bank. We poured more than two years into three houses. That wasn’t the plan, the plan was 6 months to a year. What we had set out to do we had not achieved. We needed to get to a point where we could step away. New life, new bold choice. This time we bought a boat.

So here we are, living on a boat and heading…. somewhere. We don’t know how long this chapter will last, but one thing’s for sure we won’t be living a conventional life.
