We are leaving the marina at the end of the month and there is lots to do. Rowan has been working with Jamie drilling for water. He still has a 100% finding water record. Apparently it is normally 50/50.

We spent an early morning helping Uncle Phil with some concrete. Also look at this beautiful Green Tree Snake. Didn’t know it was harmless at the time so we gave it a healthy bit of space and got him off the road so he wouldn’t get run over. He thought the road was a happy warm rock.

Our friend Lala has convinced me to start making TikTok videos. I am not very good at it. Not that it matters, only way to get good at something is try.

Me enjoying an early coffee and the sunrise

The boys have left me. I am on a mooring not far from where the boat is normally. Rowan and David are off to do the concrete on Davids land. I requested to get a load of rust done. Which requires not making such a mess and all the noise in the marina.

I had a long day on a multi renovator tool with a carbide tip removing rust. You don’t want to use and angle grinder because they create sparks that go through the gel coat on the boat and create more rust spots. I had to swim to cool off. It is messy dirty sweaty work. By the end of the day my arms and hands were vibrated into exhausted pain. I struggled that night to sleep with all the aching.

We stayed on the mooring last night. Rowan went off to work and David went to his land. Another day of rust attacking for me. My arms are definitely not pleased with me. There was no real breeze for a few hours and I struggled with all my safety gear. It is just too hot. I ended up taking three swims today to try keep cool. Eventually the wind picked up which made it must more pleasant.

It has taken me four days to get the two lots of prep and the multiple layers of rust prevention paint on. The weather has turned it into a mission.

The hardest pill to swallow is this area here which needs epoxy wood hardener put into it. But with all the rain it has made that job impossible. We have no sailing capability until I get this sorted and can bring the ropes back through.

Rowan and David attacked the anchor windlass winch. It has been overheating and they’re on a mission to work out why. The winch is on a bit of an angle which it not right. They pull it apart and find a lot of rust under it.

They are struggling to pull apart the drive shaft off the gearbox. They go to Phil’s to get a bearing puller. This doesn’t work either and they decide to let it sit with special penetrant on it overnight.

This week we also had the last Marina Mingle for the year. There was so much food and a solo artist who sang for the two hours. It was a really nice night. We didn’t really end up mingling as we sat with Linda and Steve all night. Steve was a boat builder and her has such incredible knowledge about boats. He has become our go to person to ask questions and recommendations. Everything he recommends we use I don’t question it i just get it. He has done hours of research trialled each thing and we quickly learned just to go off what he is saying. The have a 40ft Hunter, which is a production boat. But he spent a year fixing and upgrading items on the boat before they started sailing it.
